Moi,

Vihtavuoren ruudeista he käyttävät N135:ttä, N140:ä tai N540:ä kaikkien mahdollisten jenkkiruutien kera.

Muuten Jpl on aivan oikeassa 22-250 Rem:in ominaisuuksien suhteen.

Carpe Diem,

HJu thread about standardisation of ammunition calibers as good way to eliminate logistical nightmares, remainds me the end of 2001. Americans had battles in Afganistan-Pakistan border and logistics was nightmare in cage battles. ... but there was plenty of 7,62x39 ammunition and half-filled magazines. Stoner offered quickly M-4 version for that ammunition with curved magazines. Soon battles were over in the cages and battlespace got new shape and no-one has heard about that model anymore :)

Hello laur

I have read about those SR-47 rifles. According to "internet sources" Stoner made 6 rifles of which five were delivered to US Forces and never heard since. Stoner has the sixth rifle in their collection.

I do not know about the Finnish service rifle optic trials much. I have heard that there is some testing going because they want to know what is going on in the world. Whether they are actually considering buying optics in large amounts for thousands of soldiers or even hundreds of soldiers I do not know. If they are not thinking about it they are fools. Whether they have the money to buy optics is another issue.

MP5A3 is used with Aimpoint by Finnish Army but other than that I do not know what optics they are going to buy. I believe there are some work being done that tries to standardize the equipment used by Finnish Special Forces (paratroopers, rangers, special jägers), Border Guard and Police Bear Unit. Whether these organisations ever can agree on anything remains to be seen. So far the only standardized weapon is MP5A3 within these groups. Pistols are different (FN., Glock, HK USP), assault rifles are different (Rk62, Rk95, Sig-551, among others), sniper rifles are different (TAK-85, SVD, TRG-42, Sig-Sauer 3000, TRG-21/22) and so on.

One problem is that policie operations are different from military special operations. Police tires to save lives, military tries to take them. Tools and tactics easily differ. Also laws regulating the use of force and the tools to be used differ quite a bit.
Terveisin,

HJu

morning,

The same NG movie was in Estonian TV yesterday. I do suspect that those marksmen on the roof were local police department people. It was written "Police" on their back. On the one hand this does not mean a lot, on the other hand if we consider the macho imago of law enforce organisations in USA, they want to demonstrate their belonging on every step. Marksen are used in outside perimeter and i do doubt that in conditons where elections where going on and two brigades were out at the same time and the organisation was stretched to the limit, they can afford those marksmen. Priotrity is close perimeter.

Any comments? Just feel free to answer in Finnish.

Siitä käyrän AK-lippaan hyväksyvästä AR-15/M16-kiväärin versiosta:

AR:n alakertaa joka on mm. tehty vähän pidemmäksi jotta AK:n lipas mahtuisi lipassolaan ja joka hyväksyy AK:n lippaat tehdään kaupallisesti usean firman toimesta jenkeissä. Knightsin ohella ainakin seuraava firma myy vastaavaa tuotetta:

Yhden 7,62x39-kaliiperisen 'AR-47:n' tyyliin rakennetun kiväärin olen nähnyt jo Suomessakin. AR-47 on hyvä hakusana asian tiimoilta.
