Hello,

Estonia got from Sweden a lot of Ak4's as gift. To use this weapon as precisely as possible, it would be nice to know the exterior ballistics of that ammo - 10PRJ, 143 gr. Does anyone have ballisic tables for that weapon and ammo in their bookshelf or C:/ shelf? Maybe someone knows even web link?

I have experience from using german NATO-ammo (DAG) in  a normal german G3-rifle (normal rifling, about 17,7 inch barrel). The muzzle velocity was about 786 m/s (12 degrees celcius, new barrel) and suitable BC for similar muzzle velocities was  0.379, and it worked fine to 600 meters. The german round's bullet weights 143-144 grains and has a cut, not crimped cannelure. Past 600 meters it was very difficult to hit an A4 size target (scoped rifle). Some americans claim that the BC mentioned works fine to 1000 meters for 7,62 NATO M80-style rounds, but I haven't any experience past 700 meters.  Hope the swedish round is similar to german one... The Swedes say on several www-sites that PRJ 10 has a muzzle velocity of 803 m/s out of AK4. Do not know about the BC though.

Have you tried to ask the local Swedish Military attaché on their Embassy for the official ballistic tables ? For official use they most probably can help.

The problem is not so big that I have to use diplomatic channel :)

Esonians got Ak4 course from Swedes, so I just have to find those people who participated. Before doing that, I thought that I try this forum that has huge amount of shooting knowledge. ...  the most simple way to find out the ultimate truth is to spend couple hours in range.

Nail on. Just go for the range, with chronograph, AK and a tin box of ammo. Best way to get accurate data.

- targets against a sand wall (easy to get correct elevation)

- Basic shootitng in to 300m

- shoot say 500m, 600m, 700m,

- record required elevation per distance

- spend some time with PCB and you got it.
