The ceramic pattern is designed to retain a larger proportion of natural body heat produced and dissipate this around the body for a warmer thermal feel. This mechanism allows the fabrics to be lighter when required but still offer a higher degree of thermal protection. It's like taking your electric blanket with you when you go out.
