Hello
Has anyone accurate subsonic load for 300blk with VV powder and Lapua/Sierra/Hornady bullets ?
I have played with VV N120 and 200gr lapua subs, 185gr scenars and 208gr amax. Scenars are best so far, but i'm not satisfied with results. Seems, that i need heavier bullet like 220gr scenar-l or some SMK.
Rifle is bolt action, so gas pressure for recycling is not an issue.
Allmost similar caliber..?..7.62x39 works fine with VV N310 powder.
I think that VV N120 is too slow.
I have been useing something 10-12gr VV N 310 powder with 10-13g bullets...depending ,how long barrel is in that rifle or pistol im workeing with subsonic hyshys loads.

N120 works semiautomatic loads to ar-15 rifles, of cource bolt action rifles. If you used modified 223rem cases, make sure, thats are usually different to inside spaces. I shoot usually under moa with subsonic loads to 100m and uses 220grain hornady hpbt bullets. My barrel twist are 8" and now 302mm long.
Semiautomatic gun needs different amount of gas so that system works, and VV N310 powder does not work in semiauto rifles or pistols just because it does not produce that much gas that semiauto system needs..
All my tests i have been shooting i always use bolt action rifles or TC Encore pistols....makes it different.

These are for 310mm 1:8 pitch rifling and AR pistol gas system, stainless button rifled barrel, for semiauto. No accuracy claims, jus for loading info/velocity/temperature. Stability tested to 100 meters, some to 150 meters, no further.
Hodgdon H110 has a very smallg rain and is easy to measure. Use magnum primers for more uniform ignition. My muzzle velocity targer is normally 310 m/s for subs.
Sierra 220 MK, 9,5 gr H110, 21 degrees Celcius. about 317 m/s.
Sierra 220 MK, 9,5 gr VV N110, 21 degrees Celcius, about 310 m/s.
Sierra 220 MK, 9,0 gr VV N110, 27 degrees Celcius, about 324 m/s. Powder may have been even hotter.
Sierra 220 MK, 8,5 gr VV N110, 22 degrees Celcius, about 293 m/s.
SAKO 220gr hammerhead, 8,5 gr VV N110, 22 degrees, about 293 m/s.
SAKO 220gr hammerhead, 9,0 gr VV N110, 22 degrees, about 309 m/s.
SAKO 200 gr HH's tested but because 220 works, don't put any info to here. 200 HH's were sometimes slightly keyholing to 150 with Ase-Utra's SL7.
Barnes TTXS 150 gr (nr 30875) 8,6 gr VV N110, 27 degrees, about 300 m/s.
Hornady A-Max 208 gr, only one measurement per load for H 110, 21 degrees: 9,0 gr gives 302 m/s and 9,2 gr 317 m/s, 9,4 gr gives 328 m/s and 9,6 gr 333 m/s.
Have fun!
Thanx for detailed info espo!
MikaS what is your under moa load info?
Good address for subsonic loads is guns.connect.fi or gunwriters on the web by PT Kekkonen

After many visits to the range
8.8gr VV N110 220gr Nosler Custom Competition, 16" barrel
5 shots @100m ~2cm
5 shots @300m 11cm
Average velocity 327m/s with +3C
My problem was using low quality electronic scale. When you load magnum calibers, 0.3gr error is not affecting group size. With subsonic you need scale with 0.01 grain accuracy level, these scales are used in laboratories. Search for "Kern"
Has someone tried long range with this caliber?
I belive 600m would be distance that is achieveable with most weather conditions. And with calm wind even little bit more.
First question is wether 150gr or 125gr bullet?
Any load info with VV powders?
You found vihtavuori recepies to Vihtavuori reloading pages. Lapua bullets have little harder jackets, than example nosler, hornady and sierra. Usually lapua bullets load data can to use other bullets, if they not have solid constructions.
Good news are 300BLK are CIP-caliber now and whisper and blk allowed pressures is little bigger than before.
Sierra's nro 2121, 125gr HP, not the new tipped one but the older and not so easily fragmenting one, seems to be THE most accurate bullet in my 300AAC's to 150 meters, not tested others to longer distances. But 155 Scenar or equivalen weight VLD maybe is the best solution for 500-600 meters.

You WILL get rainbow trajectories anyway so you might as well get a good bullet with high BC to deal with the wind. I loaded .30X39 years ago with 155 Scenars. Worked pretty well at least out to 300m. If you can load longed than 2.27" then this bullet might work. If magazine limits you ammo length then 155Scenar may be too long.
Anyway shooting to 600m with a 300 Blackout is similar to shooting to 800m with a self loading 223. Doable but belongs in the trick category. Fun anyway when the weather gods are smiling.
